Great article: I have been personally dealing with this issue because of my mother, whom was a party girl in the the 1960s, and was, then; I don't know if now taking unprescribed Valium to deal with anxiety....but, even if she is not taking Valium now , she still has never taken on the issue of her anxiety.
I had to deal with the difficult job of confronting my mother , a few weeks ago, with her anxiety because it was affecting her health; and for it, I got disinherited, black balled from her life, which I had expected.
I had made a few appointments with psychologists to try and understand what I now call the party girl personality; but I canceled them.
I had thought for years that my mother was a “socialite” because she dated, or met a impressiveness list of people: Hugh Hefner (whom wanted her to pose for playboy) Rockefeller,
she also had dinner with a labor leader whom she was dating (practically married too)whom was with Hoffa for dinner.... the list goes... on and on... she would read the names of the list, as if she had entered some world of privilege; as if that would bring her freedom....but, they no doubt were only exploring her....because she was divorced, and perhaps even for their own political of financial motives as well, because, I, on the other side, of my family were millionaires from Rhodie Island, so rich they were Jackie Kennedy neighbors, rumor has it.
By turning my mother into what I guess was popular in the 60s into the dumb blond; they were able to control..I won't go into the details....another trust fund of mine, possibly.
I am a sort of anarchist with a trust fund; but unlike the ones that are written about in the tabloids; I will not tolerate exploration, especially, when it affects me, so when my trustee was using what is essentially my money for her needs I fired her... and believe it or not....I'm probably the first to ever have done it in NYC.

It's unfortunate that you chose to format this the way you did. I'm positive I don't get the point of why you would make one of the few cogent criticisms of this whole Cat phenomenon so difficult to read. It's your style, fine. I went ahead and reformatted it myself anyway (that's how much I thought this was worth reading). I suppose with Marnell gaining momentum out there people need to find ways to stand out. However, unlike her, in my opinion you actually are a good writer who doesn't need a schtick to support your words an insights. I agree with so much of what you said here, but, unfortunately, this will probably be both my first and last time reading you.
So while I am here: I also think it's odd that while you reference race when describing Vice, you leave it out when discussing Cat, Edie, or yourself (I clicked the GirlKore link). That's worth looking into. I hope it's not because you're an opportunist that only criticizes the intersections of race, gender, and class oppression when it excludes you. More likely, you do this without thinking about (or trying to avoid) the reality of where you fit in in the systems of oppression you claim to be against.

1 ) I write this Way, with All the Capital Letters, because it allows me to think about Words in More than One Dimension. By diversifying my Punctuation, I diversify my inter Pretation. Also, People write Similarly in German, so don’t assume it is so Difficult to get used to. I love it, Personally. It makes my Mind sing.
2 ) I will admit to a Bias in Terms of aLmost All People I write about : they resemble me. I write about Hot White Girls with Blonde Hair and also about Writers with a Great Deal of Ambition. This, however, is Different than Xclusionary Attitude practiced by Vice Magazine because while I am an Individual xpressing my Individual Opinions about Things that Interest me an Individual Level on my Individual Blog, Vice Magazine represents a Collective or Cultural Movement. When your Collective or Cultural Movement is Heavily Biased towards a Certain Kind of Person ( towards White Males in the Case of Vice Magazine ) you are practicing Bigotry in your Movement. It is my Job to rectify this by confronting Vice about its Bigotry and campaigning for a Change.
Germans write like that because they capitalise all nouns, you just write like a mad person with no rhyme or reason.

One thing you should know about Calloway is that the large majority of the publicity was (and continues to be) bought by her casino manager parents. Pretty fucked up if you ask me.
Are you serious? "Cat Marnell's Father Literally sent her Drugs in stead of Love." Aside from that horrible and incredibly corny sentence making me want to vomit on a visceral level, you have no idea what circumstances were involved here. You know nothing, and writing that about someone and their father is careless and irresponsible. Also, Vice has many, many pieces written by women (including articles where women dominate men), gay people of both sexes, articles on femininity, etc. And the picture you excerpted with the caption "Why are there no photos like this of men in Vice Magazine?" is terribly misleading. You were undoubtedly trying to make it look like those women were being ranked on their attractiveness, which is not the case. It's taken from a fashion shoot (link here: http://www.vice.com/en_se/read/100th-issue-100-girls-v18n5), and the numbers correspond to a list at the bottom of the page outlining what each of the girls are wearing. Every culture magazine on the face of the earth has fashion shoots, do you have something against that too? Vice, in fact, has many, many shoots featuring only men. So to answer your question, there are tons of photos EXACTLY like that in Vice. Here is one and here is one and god you are annoying.
Who gives a fuck about how Andrea chooses to punctuate? All caps, all lower-case, doesn't matter: her message is on point.
If anything, her punctuation and narrative tone is much more honest than that of others in the blogosphere who have wagged their fingers at Marnell on many occasions in the past. Speaking of other commentary on Marnell, Andrea stands out because she's not shrill or judgmental at all- quite the contrary. She simply pointed out the sexy new flavor of misogyny embodied in the female-aesthetic-destructive-complex right now that's popular within the contemporary media.
That Marnell's problems are out there for everyone to follow is perhaps beside the point; what's more troubling than her "brutally honest" or "raw" writing is exactly the opposite. All she's doing is what she feels like she needs to in order to be considered "provocative" or "cutting edge" as a writer (and indeed, as a young woman) to other people. She's just giving them (i.e. mainstream media blogs, the media in general, her audience, etc.) what they want.
Aside from the obvious jeopardy she is putting her own life in, the saddest part about all this is that Marnell is probably correct in her calculation. Judging by her body of work/social media presence up until now, her writing talent is largely overshadowed by her all-consuming narcissism that feeds her addiction in the first place, and one that is a commonly encouraged by our capitalist and patriarchal culture for women to buy into, not for their own sake, but for society's (profit/amusement/etc.).
What would instead be much more provocative is if Marnell actually employed her writing ability to better use, like Hunter S. Thompson, who at the very minimum was smart enough to focus the larger narrative of his work on his concern about major public issue and the direction which our country is headed. Sadly, that doesn't seem to be the case for Marnell; who instead is taking the easier route abetted by a media organization (VICE) that (on whatever level) benefits from her destruction. I can't say I blame either of them at the end of the day, however, because we can't expect everyone to be as great as Gonzo or the other writers/journalists of yore who matched their literary and journalistic talent with a higher purpose. At the end of the day Marnell ends up looking like a hack, and VICE just like another Corporate Media Interest that commoditizes her, much like Fox News does with Sarah Palin.
PS: While they are employing Marnell as a writer, I don't expect VICE to apologize for anything, either. They just can't condemn other media outlets for being disingenuous journalists with a straight face while expecting to maintain their street cred.

The men are indeed posed in a fantasy land fashion shoot. The "100 Girls" are offered up as real people packaged as exotic indie hipster flavours of the week. You seek attention and validation as a writer. I seriously question your motives in writing about Cat and her new position writing for Vice Magazine (tweeting her and getting her attention to promote yourself--she's a narcisist! Of course she would read it and therefore get attention for you from Vice Magazine.) It seems like you are simply attempting to take advantage of the sensationalism surrounding Cat's recent actions so you can make a name for yourself.
I'm sure if she had read many of your other posts like i did, she would realize that while you are talented, you are also deeply troubled. Another possibility is these are people you will meet in life who will look up to you as a mother figure. Children in visions are not always biological children.
Your only fault is you don't want to be wrong. Please find someone who can help you understand sumbolism and the meaning of your visions without fcking you. You need a teacher who accepts you solely as a student. A teacher who will help you interpret your visions, not induce more of them.
Once you have a better understanding of who you are, and where your visions will take you, you can proceed with confidence. You will no longer be held back by fear or uncertainty.

Thanks; for your responding to my comment....I don't think, I will be commenting much more, because it's to depressing for me, because I stopped doing drugs more then 30 years ago years ago and alcohol around 5 years ago...VICE....is shockingly depressing....but I did find it helpful reading about party girls and/or socialite junkies; because my mother never did get it out of her head, some of the things, you describe about capitalism, patriarchy and anarchy,...her three were, being a party girl, a loyal dumb blonde for the collective patriarchy, and later in her life Republicanism...so now I understand when she gets unstable and rants.... literally screams.... it more then likely are the demons in her head, from the past that are tearing her apart, with possibly some mild Alzheimer's.
