What is GirlKore?

GirlKore is a Noun / Adjective designating Art made by a Young Lady that communicates the Subjective Xperience of Young Ladies.

The First Person I heard use the Term was Marie Calloway.

( I would like to be Friends with Marie Calloway, on Facebook or what ever, because I think we could have Some Intelligent Discussions about what it means to be a Young Lady writing to Day - but because of my Reputation as “ the sublime definition of ufsi, ” as Alt Lit Gossip put it, I would like to send her a Letter of Introduction that makes Clear I am not just a Nightmare Faerie from beyond the Border come to eat her and her Fame but a Young Lady with a Wicked Sense of Humor who cares Very Deeply about the Progression of Literary Feminism and the dis Mantling of Patriarchal Capitalism. But - Marie Calloway won’t let Any One send her Messages until she’s accepted them as a Friend and has rejected my Efforts to friend her, so, let this be my Letter of Introduction, and if Any One could pass it on to her, that would be Super.)

Marie Calloway spelt the Term “ Girlcore. ”

When I typed “ Girlcore ” into Google the Top Hits were for an All Young Ladies Art / Party Collective based out of London. This is in keeping with the Fundamental Tenant of GirlKore: Artistic Productions by Girls for Girls that reflect the Sensibilities of Girls.

I have changed the Spelling from “ Girlcore ” to “ GirlKore ” because I think the “ K ” evokes Solidity and Ferocity ( Two Attributes im'Portant to my Personal inter Pretation of the Term ) while retaining, pronounced, the Suppleness of the Original “ Girlcore. ” In changing the Spelling, the Word is given a Duality that is e'Specially GirlKore - Beautiful and Soft / Determined and Strong.

GirlKore, as an Artistic Movement, is im'Perative because it represents a Step Forward, into Serious Artistic Production, by Feminism. We Young Ladies are Artists, GirlKore states. The Visual imPact of the Word “ GirlKore ” lends to the im'Pression we are Young Lady Artists with imPact. ImPact needs to be established because Prior to the GirlKore Movement it was Subliminally and Overtly assumed by Western Society that Feminine Art - Art by Ladies that xpresses the Subjective Xperience of Ladies - was Some how Less Relevant, Less Serious, and Less Worthy of Recognition than Art Works of Men which reflect Male Perspectives. Any One who studies Western Art knows of the our Storical Patriarchy of this Movement. The Founding of GirlKore means that Things are no Longer so - in 2012 the Artistic Works of Ladies are Equal to those of Men - if not in Every Mind, then in Practice. In xpressing our Subjective Xperiences in a Feminine Way, we Girls are assuring our Perspectives on the World be taken in Equal Seriousness with those of Men of All Ages. In creating Art about the World as we interpret it, we Girls are establishing our Selves as Conscious and our Consciousness as Relevant to the Way the Sapiens Species as a Whole understands its Self. Too Long Western Culture has slanted in Favor of a Masculine interPretation of Xistence ( with the Lady as Other / Object ). This has created imBalance. With the Establishment of the GirlKore Movement, Western Art ( and, thereby, the Western Psychology ) moves towards Balance.

The Term GirlKore applies to Any Art that is created by a Young Lady / reflects the Perspective of Young Ladies. Because the Primary Art with which I concern my Self is Writing I would like to talk about what GirlKore Literature is.

 Because Literature is GirlKore Only when it is written by a Young Lady / xpresses the Subjective Xperience of a Young Lady - whether this be in Poems, Blogs, Journals, Letters, Essays, Short Stories, Novels, or Philosophy - GirlKore as a Literary Movement is as Diverse is the Feminine Spectrum of the Sapien Species.

Chick Lit is the cis-Sexual Caucasian Commercial Fictional Branch of GirlKore Literature.

On the Macro Level, Chick Lit is to GirlKore what Commercial is to Literary Writing.

On a Micro Level, Chick Lit is a Genre of Fiction that is written by Ladies for Ladies which concerns Subjects our Capitalist Society considers " Girly " : Romantic Love, Family, Girl Friendships and the Decorative Arts, Usually. Chick Lit is Formulaic. Covers are Pink or feature Shoes. Protagonists are White, live in sub / Urban Areas and have Money.

As Far as I know, Lizzy Grant wrote the Songs on her First Album, Lana Del Rey aka Lizzy Grant, a Work of Art which is Pure GirlKore, yo : the Persona signing out to us from the Tracks is un Deniably a Young Lady, Original in her Honest Vulnerability. Through this she draws us in, through this she establishes her Greatest Gift : the Ability to love. The Album's Softness and Submissiveness, with their Freudian Echoes, are what distinguish it from the GirlKore Music Work of the Nineties, Punk a More Aggressive, Second Wave Style. The Third Wave Feminist, the Feminist Chauvinist, finds Xpression in the Self Xploitative Lizzie Grant / Lana Del Rey. So, Lana Del Rey is a Lolita, a Stripper, a Self Sacrificing Girl Friend, a Lover, a Wannabe Starlet, an Abandoned Girl Friend, a Naif, too Eager to Love, looking for her Self in a Man when she ought to be looking inward, a Mistake Many Young Ladies make, e'Specially under Patriarchy. Lizzie Grant is not pretending to be an indePendent Woman here, but, in singing Songs about these Failings from her Own Perspective she is displaying a Self Awareness that is Refreshing in its Accuracy to the Feminine Xperience. Too Long the Likes of Lizzie Grant / Lana Del Rey have been the Objects of Men's Songs rather than their Own Songs, which makes Born to Die an Apt Title in Deed. The Lizzie Grant Self is Dead, replaced by the Lana Del Rey Object. Too Long Ladies have sung the Words Men have put in their Mouths, and this is why Born to Die is a Tragedy. Lizzie Grant has sold out, Ladies and Gentle’Men. She has been subsumed. In stead of singing Honestly about how Men make her feel like on her First Album, on Born to Die she has allowed them to whisper in her Ear the Songs they would rather hear. The Evidence of her Lack of a Fully Formed Sense of Self, One that xists out Side of the Attentions of Men she looks up to, is Perfectly embodied in Lana Del Rey’s Botox Mouth.
